I was reading that Egyptian style hieroglyphs were found in caves around the Isis temple at the Grand Canyon and also in Australia. Does anyone know about this?

Hmmm... No, I had never heard about that. I wish I had, my family and I were just on a trip out west, and someone around there would have probably known. I can check some of our travel guides, though.

P.S. What's the Isis temple at the Grand Canyon? Are you talking about the grand canyon in Arizona, USA, or a different one?

There is a rock formation called the Isis temple at the Grand Canyon U.S.A. I can't find the exact website with the good photo of it but check www.marsearthconnection.com/egyptgc.html
Its a bit of a dubious website but at the very least you get a great image from space of the 3 pyramids at Giza :D

Here, I was just searching for stuff about the grand canyon and stuff. There was some interesting info. at this site, http://www.rense.com/general6/egy.htm which had a link to this site, with a picture of the Isis temple, www.hitthetrail.com/mikespages/isis.htm

I'll search some more. I'm getting very interested in this now!

WOW! This stuff is amazing. This is a really good site: http://paranormal.about.com/gi/dynamic/ ... ralia.html
It has pictures of the glyphs in it. I never knew about any of this stuff before! it's so cool!

Ancient peoples all around the world used hieroglyphs.
Though some glyphs may look alike, that doesn't mean that these peoples were in contact with each other. Remember, there may be a large amount of time (which has passed) that separates one culture from another.
Just because one finds pyramids in Mexico, doesn't mean the Egyptians
built them.
If there are hieroglyphs in Arizona and Australia, I would be inclined to dismiss the notion that Egyptians put them there.

I don't believe it.
Interesting though and a bit silly.

Actually, the Australian website I entered had pictures. They look exactly like Egyptian Hieroglyphs. There was one of Anubis, and one of a mummy. And in the 1940's didn't someone prove that you could have sailed from Afcrica to American in a reed boat? If they could have made it to American in a reed boat, they could have definately made it to Austrailia in one of the wooden boats like found outside the Great Pyramid.

I also had a look at the website. Although it is correct to say that hierogyphics have risen independantly all over the world I think these have a resemblance to the ancient Egyptians which can't be dismissed so easily (this is if the website is true!). In Austrailia there are protogyphs that are very old, perhaps many thousands of years but these differ greatly from those shown on the website. Given that the aborigines have been in Australia for 40,000 years and came from Africa, (so the theory goes) I don't see why things like this could not be true. Moreover, the human brain has not changed in 100,000 years and throughout history man has always had a passion for adventure and travel. :!: :)

Oh please, The Ancient Egyptians jumped in a ship and sailed across the ocean, landed in America---then went cross country all the way to the Grand Canyon just to carve some heiroglyphs there....
I won't even go into the Austrailian thing.
As far as I know, the Ancient Egyptians didn't do much traveling...in the old kingdom that is.
I agree with xjames66, if there are hieroglyphs in those places, it was NOT
Old Kingdom Egyptians who put them there....

Many predynastic (5000-4000BCE) figurines have, for example, lapis lazuli eye inlays which could only have come from Afghanistan pointing to trade and travel.

I don't think that you are right, guest from August 15. I think they traveled very little and didn't trade at all. That is just my opinion though.

Not meaning to put anybody down, but, Guest2, I think the Guest from Aug. 15 was being sarcastic. No offence please.

Well, I think that they wold have to travel sometimes. hatshepsut had and expedition to Punt, they had to travel for any battles or wars they were engaging in, maybe they had peace with peoples from where we call today Afganistan. Why would they have built such large wooden boats for their Pharaohs if they were just going to sail down the Nile, and where would they have learned to do it? Maybe they learned from some other people from a nearby country and decided to sail across the ocean. Surely people then would have wondered what was on the other side, it didn't just start around CHristopher Columbus's time, curiosity is human nature. But, we'll never know unless someone can get a permit and go looking for that place in the Grand Canyon, until them we can only speculate, so nobody's wrong, they just think differently than yourself, and everybody's entitled to their own opinion.

I don't think they traveled all the way to Arizona! As far as I know, There was nothing that the Egyptians said about finding another "red land." There would have been an immediate exploration and other things like that. They would have had to sail through the Red Sea and the Persian Gulf, all the way around lower Africa that they didn't really know about, and go to the Americas and then land, walk through Mexico and New Mexico and Texas just to put hierogyphics there. I think that's a bit of a hassle, don't U think? Australia, well, I don't think they went there either. This is probably the work of a copy cat.
