Hi, Tom! I love the Mummy movies (esp the first one, which I watched just the other night for about the billionth time :mrgreen:

) and I have often wondered the same thing. The names do sound extremely similar, and since the ancient Egyptian like all Semitic languages was written without vowels, their spelling--not to mention pronunciation!--is debatable even amongst scholars.

So--while I don't have a definite answer for you

, given the vagaries of time and an ancient, long-forgotten language, I think it is entirely possible that these are two versions of the same name.

Welcome! We are glad to have you here. It's funny how Hollywood just uses any name. I laugh because the names they used for the characters literally had nothing to do with the real pharaohs and queens. But none the less, they are cool names and he mummy is one cool movie

LoLL I love all of " The Mummy " movies, but I'm just a little sad about the third one and how its not about Ancient Egypt and also how Rachel Weisz isn't in it..~ The movie is great, but I guess I just expected more of Ancient Egypt more then Ancient China.. ^_^;

About the names, I think they are awesome!

It's maybe a little but unusual how they didn't use the names of the real pharaohs, but that's what also made it interesting~ I agree with all of you btw hehe~~ I'm new here though ._. so yeah..~ :oops:

I love mummy movies. I am a huge fan of these movies related to mummy. These movies are good source of entertainment as well as good source of acknowledgement about mummy. I suggest people to watch these movies.
