The CT scan that was done just recently on the mummy showed absolutely no abnormalities. This included the scoliosis, which was within normally accepted range, and no disfigurement to his legs that would make him rely on a cane. (and BTW, that is not a cane, but a walking stick)
It is quite evident that he collected, not canes, but different, unusual walking sticks.
There were two headrests found in his tomb, and both were quite artistically beautiful, but not unusual at all. Headrests were quite common and also quite practical in the hot climate.
Other than the broken leg/knee, the CT scan showed him to be in very good health, quite typical of a young man of his age.
We will more than likely never know for sure the cause of his death. Hawass has stated that poisoning is a possibility, but there is absolutely no evidence. At this time, the only positive cause is blood poisoning, caused by a serious infection, which was caused by the break.
