I've got a long involved game plan that involves making my money first. If everything goes well I'll be able to be more involved than waiting for a job to open. I'd like to create some of those jobs. I'm sure it will take a couple of decades but its something to dream about. Time is the only thing for sure, though.

lol it would be great to think of ourselves as an egyptologist!! But i do study Egyptology:) hehe yes but it would be great to talk to an actual egyptologist!!

The Egyptologists! He said he was studying at the local library one day when he caught the stench of something horrible. It was either the janitor walking by with a load of rotting garbage, or the Egyptologists (probably just students studying archaeology..) at the next table. To this day, he swears that Egyptologists smell..

But, like I said.. he likes to make things up for the sake of humor. Sometimes it doesn't deliver as well as he would like, but he never stops, lol!

Just a word of caution to Lostris - the Egyptians are very defensive about guide employment. Although I've not been to Egypt, the vast majority of staff who work on sites are native Arabians, and most learn to speak several different langauges.

At the moment, I'm planning on getting my undergrad in "History and Archaeology of Greece, Rome and the Near East". After that I'll either: a) change my interests and get a real job
or
b) wing it from there

I plan on taking German though, just in case I do decide to go the Egyptology route.

I'm totally decided to be an Egyptologist, even though in Spain it is very very difficult. At the moment I'm studying Archaeology, and I take part in many excavations here (Roman, Phoenician, Bronze Age, Iberian). I also go to an academy of Egyptology to lern ancient Egyptian. Apart from the subjects at University, I study Egyptology in a self-taughing way, which I enjoy a lot, by reading books and more books.

The good thing of living here is that in our archaeological sites, principally Phoenician and Roman, we find a lot of Egyptian artifacts, like scarabs, amulets and alabaster vessels. As in my University there is no professor dedicated to Egyptology, and I am the only one who can translate Egyptian and is acquainted with Egyptian archaeology and artifacts, I am working at the study and publication of a series of scarabs and amulets.

This is my life... and I don't see myself working at other thing. I know that becoming an Egyptologist will be difficult, but I'm going to try with all my illusion and energy to achieve it.
