According to a magazine:

Not only the archeologists, the artists are interested in pharaoh Cheops' mummy for hundreds of years. The question is where can it be, because they haven't found it already. Most of the egyptologists say Cheops wanted to be buried in one of the pyramids, but the royal family's opinion was different - they buried him in a place somewhere else. In the Great Pyramid, there's a great corridor, and in the middle of the pyramid, you can find the king's chamber, which can be reached on a 47-metres-long corridor, the Great Gallery (Is the English name Great Gallery? I don't know exactly, but the Hungarian is this). And there's a half-ready sarchopagus in it. Most of the scientists think Cheops was never buried here. But a French egyptologist, Gilles Dormion's opinion is diffrent. He is researching for the pyramid's secret for 17 years, and he says there is 2, unknown, secret rooms in the pyramid - where we can surely find the mummy. If he's right, we 'only' have to search for the two secret chambers, and the mummy will be there.

Sounds interesting, yes? What do you think?

The idea of him building a pyramid in which to be buried and then being interred in another place is a bit of imagination at work!
The kings of the IV dynasty and beyond were very much concerned with l"leaving" the mortal earth in a grandiose fashion. One can hardly look at the pyramids and not think "what kind of person created this?"
As to the ideas of "hidden" chambers. The pyramids on the Giza Plateau have all been closed for refurbishing, improvements to air quality--and very close examination. There has been no evidence of any "hidden" rooms found.
It's always a possiblity, I would imagine. We still don't know for sure what's behind the unexpected doors in the air shafts of the queen chamber. But I believe that nothing of any importance will be found.
I repeat, close examination of the pyramids has found nothing more than the rooms or chambers of which we are already aware.

Before I endulge myself in the thread.. are Cheops and Khufu the same person? Or is Cheops the builder of Khufu's tomb? I know it's silly, but my overactive imagination gets the best of me, sometimes - and when I ask, I get a sort of convoluted answer that just leaves me guessing even more!!

Ah, thank you very much! And Amenhotep was the architect, no?

Now that I know what I'm making things up about.. Isn't it the thought that Cheops/Khufu (they're so different in names!)'s temple was graverobbed, and his body relocated/destroyed?

I know it was the fashion of graverobbers and/or enemies to strike away any personage of the deceased, but there are little to no account of his name being scratched away.. Maybe during Roman conquest, but that's more of a power issue, not personal/political.

Also, as far as the air duct thingies going out from the queen's chamber - you know, the unfinished ones? ...Well, there was a post here about some research done with it , where they managed to send an RC car equiped with a camera up one of the holes, past a locked chamber, and only came to another. One could speculate that perhaps there is one, if not many 'secret chambers'. Although, when looking at the designs for it, I don't see how there's really any room, unless when you got past the second sealed door, there was a drop, you ended up in a room level to the queen's chamber.

All in all, I would love to be part of the team that figures this out! I know I could do it, just give me a billion dollars and Zahi's lack of refutable morals! ...Sorry, cheap shot... :?

Great graphic right there, Unas!
Kmt, I quoted correctly that the magazine wrote but sorry for all faults in it. Tomorrow I'll search for this topic on the Net.

Oh, thank you. :D I did it in Paint. ...Actually, I got it from , and just edited in the yellow parts in Paint.

I know the mummy was probably buried somewhere else, but it's fun to imagine, no? I know, those trianglular blocks, headed toward the pinnacle of the pyramid are probably just load-bearing blocks... physics stuff, I guess. But, what if they really were set to protect a secret area? If not the "actual" burial room, perhaps hidden treasures? Only time, and dynamite can tell. ...Dynamite, the song by the Scorpions, not the exploding kind. Well, maybe.. ..Sorry, rambling.!

Yeah, I love the Scorpions! The first song I learned to play on the guitar was Holiday. Though Uli Jon Roth is my favorite guitarist, he's no longer with the band! Hehe, I've actually got my Blackout vinyl playing right now..

Oh, have you heard Fly to the Rainbow (the song from Uli's debut album with the Scorpions, coincidently titled Fly to the Rainbow)? That song, my favorite of all time.. ..The only word that comes close to describing its awesomeness is orgasmic..!

I'm still working on the intro to that song, it's hard to tell what guitar is playing what (it's both Uli Jon and Ruddolf Schenker playing alternate tunes for an awesome sound).. though I can play most of the rest of it (I don't know how Uli gets that awesome effect at the end; probably a wah peddal?).. Oh, man.. I could go on and on!

At first, a picture: There is a nice picture there of the construction of the great pyramid.

I read in this page how they dug out the original entrace. Why can't we use this now?

After the Great Pyramid was intially sealed, it's original entrace was hidden and faced with smooth limestone. Because this blended in so well with the surrounding casing, the opening was invisible. Around 820 AD, Abdullah Al Mamun mobilized man to bore a tunnel into the tunnel to search for chambers and treasure. Due the difficulty of the task of breaking of the hard rock, fires were built to heat the rock and then cold vinegar was poured over the heated rock. Battering rams were used to pound away the weakened rock and clear a tunnel. Eventually, a passageway back upward, the original entrace was finally located.

I like this version
