To be honest there were reigns just as eventful throughout Egyptian history. A lot of almost radically new reforms did happen but in terms of events the reigns of Seti I or Ramses II were just as eventful. If you want a drastic change in Egyptian thinking and its relationship to the outside world then the Ptolomaic era is brilliant. For building try Ramses II and for battles try Tuthmosis III, for interest try Hatchepsut and for War try Tao, Kamose and Ahmose. It is just a shame to neglect such huge tracts of history just because one period is more famous than others are.

I do read and learn about other times in Egyptian history. I just like to learn about the Amarna Age.

The Amarna Age is one of the periods in Egyptian history that gives us lots of ideas to debate! On another board i visit, it is referred to--in jest--as the "Amarna Tar Pits"--easy to become trapped in discussion, difficult to end, to reach any conculsion. Just the genelogy of the principals involved--Nefertiti, Tutankamen, Smenkhkra--and the list can go on and on--cannot be resolved. Many suggestions, but no absolute answers. This all makes for a fascinating time-period.
One of the great things about Aketaten, is that it is an excavion-site frozen in time. It has no previous building, nor any after, but gives excavors a site that is very easy to date for finds.
One's imagination can really take off!
