Well, kingtutgurl13,
it's just a theory, nothing for sure at the moment. I can shortly tell you about this theory...Some archaeologists believe that the bone piece that lay at bottom of Tut's skull (the only thing they have in their hands is a very old xray film, nothing else) is due to a hit in his head, probably while sleeping....then they started to try to figure out how it could happened and who could have had prior interest in Tut's early death. According to this line of thoughts, the one should be Ay. Ay was the high priest of Amon before the heresy of AkhenAton....he's been always very able to mantain his power. Once AkhenAton died he tried (Tut was very young and Ay was actually governing) to restore the ancient Gods, and so obviously also the other priests (I'm trying to shorten a little bit).....The only thing that we know for sure is that, after Tut's death, Ay became King, even if only for few years, and that in Tut's tomb he is represented while doing the "opening mouth" ceremony, meaning that he was Tut's director succeder. There has also be found a letter, wrote by Tut's wife AnkhesenAmon, sent to the Ittita King, asking for one of his sons to come in Egypt to marry her and become the king, that she didn't want to marry one of her servants!
There are no news about what happened to AnkhesenAmon...for sure she died! ahahahah....It is possible that if Tut's was killed this way, she had the same end, but.....THERE IS NO PROVE OF THIS!
Another news about Ay...some archaeologyst believe he was the father of Nefertiti....still not prove...eheheh
Just to add few more lines, you'll read some tread about that in this community. Some important tests are being made on many mummies that lay in Egypt. This because they have to restore them and also see if they can find some important news about historical periods, illness and so on...The first mummy will be Tut's one....no dna test is scheduled on any mummy...so will see if they'll find something interesting...
I hope I was clear enough....

so, ciao ciao

Personally, I have my own opinions on Tut's death. I believe that there may have been a murder conspiricy, but however it happened, it didn't succeed.

There is proof that Tutankhamun did have a head wound. Whether or not that was an accident of some sort or from a supposed assassin, it isn't know. What usually is known is that he survived for almost three months AFTER he recieved the wound. Which, really, is quite a bit of time for him to hunt down a murderer. Which really, makes it all seem that maybe Horemheb and Ay WEREN'T invovled. Even if they had someone do the dirty work. . wouldn't Tutankhamun had the power to hunt down the person behind the entire thing? Then again, it's easy to make people lie when they're scared of you.

My belief is that Tutankhamun died of a something similar to an aneurysm. Because once he DID go unconcious again, he never woke up (or at least that's what history tells us). If that's true and it was caused from a wound to the back of the head, who knows what kind of state our Pharaoh was in prior to his death. The poor man may have been plauged with extremely severe mirgranes.

If there was a murder plot, my belief is taht Horemheb did it. . or that even Ay and Horemheb teamed up for this even. Why? Well, as Si-Amun said (I belive it was Si-Amun; forgive me if it wasn't) it is EXTREMELY odd that Ay became pharoah so suddenly. . even on the walls of Tutankhamun's tomb, it shows Ay being dressed as a Pharaoh. . something that usually isn't seen in a Pharaoh's tomb. Another reason why I think it was probbaly Horemheb is ebcause when he came to power, he erased EVERY image of Tutankhamun (except for one small saying in Luxor Temple that apprently he missed) and replaced the name with his own. Why other reason would he have had to try and erase the name of his 'friend' from existance?

As I have said, that's my theory. It's probbaly NOT what happened, but it sorta makes sesne ^^

I believe that Tutankhamun died under mysterious circumstances, I am not sure whether it was murder but I think the true conspiracy lies with the succession of Ay. I am deeply interested in the disappearance of Zannannza (spelling is awfl, I know!) and the disappearance of Ankhesenamun, I am not pacifically saying murder, just "disappearance". Whether Tutankhamun was murdered or not there does seem to be something rather fishy about whatr happened after his death.

The Associated Press gives the news that new tests just begun on Tut's mummy. They brought the TAC (spiral? I don't know the name in English) and put it at the entrance of the tomb. The body of the king has been protected and scannerized. 1700 pics could be done in less than 15 minutes and soon after the mummy is gonna be analysed and everything will be done to restore it the better way possible...

Great, but I still don't know exactly what Hawass hopes to prove from these scans. They won't be able to answer the most confusing and crucial questions surrounding the Amarna period, and even if he finds a spearhead in Tut's spine he won't be able to supply a new link to deliberate murder by Ay. Zawass claims to be able to smell mummies, and predict the future, but usual his promises seem very dubious.

P.S Maatkara, 'scannerized' is not actually an English word (we say 'scanned' instead), but it is so cool that I must start using it from time to time. It sounds like something out of Star Trek or something, "Scannerizing cartesian co-ordinate calibratrix!". Maybe not. But it made me laugh. :)

First of all thanx very much for correcting my wrong words, at least I learn something! Please continue this!
It is because in italian it does not exit the verb "to scan" and so we say "scannerizzare", which comes from english....I translated it literary...scannerized!!!
I'm glad I let you laugh!! :D

About Hawass, I believe they have to go on with tests on a great number of mummies for many different reasons, not only about Tut....meanwhile he'll try to have some good contracts with TVs for documentary and programs about Tut's death and so much more money to continue these tests, which are very expensive.....but we already imagine how things go on.....no? The fact that they stared with Tut is obvious: he is the best known kings, the situation in which he died is not clear and the audience find it more attractive then every other king, because of his treasure, because some still beieve in the curse....and so on...

It is quite likely that the "Prime Minister", or more properly the Vizier was actually the grandfather of Queen Ankhesamun so I dont really some whirlwind romance between the two, and any marriage would have been a marriage of state.
