This news is coming directly from Cairo. The team of the Turin University, directed by Paolo Gallo, who is now part of the team of scientists and archaeologyst of the Museum of Turin, just uncovered a temple belonged to NectaneboI. This happened after a hard job done by the team, in one of the tough area of the Egyptian Sahara, located 140 km south-east of the Siwa Oasis.
The temple has been built between 380 and 360 b.C. It has been enlarged during Ptolemaic period.
It is all painted and long about 20 mt and consists of a hypostile hall with six columns, through which itis possible to reach the "sancta sanctorum", dedicated to a particular verson of Amun " Amon who invigorate" ( I don't know if it's correct, if not , please tell me!). On the blocks Nectanebo is represented while making offerings to the local deities.
Paolo Gallo says itis really urgent to take this blocks away, in safer places,, because they can be hardly damaged by the strong winds of the area. He said that this operation is quite difficult and expensive, due to the dimension, the weight of the blocks and their delicateness.
The expedition has been sponsorized by an industrialist of Turin, but later the italian ambassy gave a help. We hope that this wonderful event won't have to suffer for lack of money and founds and that what have been discovered won't be damaged.
