I know Egyptians were more lax in their ideas about marriage and married for love rather than money etc, instead of like, perhaps, say the Romans. I also know that women were more valued and could own property and basically had better lives than their counterparts in Mesopotamia. So would it be possible for an upper-class, wealthy man to marry someone who was a slave, presumably after he bought her from her master and emancipated her?
Is it even possible? How outraged would everyone be? To what levels would his family care? Would they disown him?
