When she was born (to an unknown mother) she was the fifth in line to the throne. Her father was forced to flee Egypt before Cleopatra was a teenager. Her elder sister, also a Cleopatra may have ruled briefly before suspiciously dying and being replaced by her younger sister Berenice. Ptolemy XII (Cleopatra's father) returned from Italy with Roman support and was out back on the Egyptian throne. He probably then had his daughter Berenice executed for usurping his throne. He died when Cleopatra was 18/19 and she ascended to the throne, marrying her elder brother Ptolemy XIII. The pair didn't get on and Cleopatra had to flee Egypt in the midst of a civil war. Julius Caesar turned up and put Cleopatra on the throne that Ptolemy XIII and his other sister Arsinoe had taken over. Arsinoe was given Cyprus as a kingdom and Cleopatra was reinstated as queen. Ptolemy let his army rebel against Caesar and the young Ptolemy was drowned in the Nile fighting the Romans. Cleopatra was made to marry her still younger brother Ptolemy XIV but still had an affair with Caesar. Caesar had to go back to Rome after a while, but Cleopatra was carrying his child, called Ptolemy Caesar (Caesarion, meaning "little Caesar"). Years later Cleopatra went to Rome to visit Caesar, staying in the city whilst he triumphed over his victory in Egypt. While she was there a move was made in te Senate that would make Caesar more like a king, and the Republic less powerful. Several opposed this and Brutus and other assasins murdered Caesar on the Ides of March in 41 BCE. Cleopatra moved back to Egypt in mourning, with her son left nothing in Caesars will. Over the next three years Mark Anthony and Octavian (Caesars great nephew) sought out the assassins and killed them off. Once this was done Anthony summoned Cleopatra to visit him In Tarsus to explain why she had not been active in seeking out the assassins. She arrived in true splendour, winning Anthony over to her cause. Soon Anthony accompanied her to Alexandria where like Caesar he became Cleopatras lover. At this point the younger brother of Celopatra, Ptolemy XIV dies and many accuse her of his poisoning. Cleopatra bears Anthony three children, twins called Alexander Helios and Cleopatra Selene (After the sun and moon) and a son called Ptolemy. On the death of Ptolemy XIV Cleopatra and Anthony proclaim Caesarion as Ptolemy XV, and Anthony makes his children kings of much Roman land in Syria. He bestows upon Caesarion the title of King of Kings and grants him vast tracks of Roman land for his territories. Cleopatra at this point had her sister Arsinoe beheaded on the island of Cyprus to quell competition. The order was sent officially by Anthony, but it was Cleopatra who summoned it. The handing over of Roman Provinces angered the Roman Senate had in time civil war was declared between Anthony and Octavian. The war culminated at the battle of Actium, where Cleopatra and Anthony were defeated. They both returned to Alexandria to await their fates. When his soldiers deserted him Anthony blamed Cleopatra, flying into a rage he threatened to kill her. To protect herself she shut herself inside her tomb and gave word to tell Anthony that she was dead. Believing this he fell upon his sword in an attempt at suicide. He failed, though caused a terrible ijury to himself which caused him to linger. He was then told that Cleopatra was safe and well inside the tomb so he was taken on a strecher and hoisted up through a window at the top of the monument. This was done so Cleopatra wouldn't have to open the doors to her tomb. Plutarch tells us that the queen manned the ropes herself and dragged Anthony into the tomb. Here Anthony died and recieved his rites. Octavian meanwhile had entered the city and Cleopatra was brought before him. Here there is a conflict in story. Some sources claim that she tried to seduce Octavian in a last ditch effort to keep her crown. Others say that she was a broken woman who was sad, depressed and defeated. She asked Octavian to let her visit the body of Anthony inside her tomb, where it had been left. Octavian agreed and she made her last journey to the monument. When there she crowned Anthony's urn with flowers, bathed and dressed in preparation for her death. She laid down on a gilded couch and committed suicide. Romantic belief tells us that she clutched an asp to her breast but far more likely is that she swallowed poison and died. When Octavian entered the tomb the Queen and one of her handmaidens lay dead. The other handmaiden was straightening the diadem on her rulers head. Finally this servant died and the line of the Ptlomaic kings was finished. Caesarian was murdered whilst escaping and Anthony's children were sent to live with a rich Roman family. Cleopatra Selene married into the Royal house of King Juba, King of Mauretania. Cleopatra's legacy was not destroyed by Octavian as he was paid a vast sum not to touch her statues or inscriptions. She has been immortalised in cores of plays, films, books and songs. She had murdered perhaps two of her siblings, married both her brothers and gone to a civil war against her brother which led to his death. Out of the six children born to Ptolemy XII it is doubtful whether a single one died a natural death.

I am very sorry here but many sources say that she married both of her brothers because to remain Queen they would have to have been married, so either they were married or one of them wasn't a ruler. Also, your information about her sisters is not completely true. It is unknown how the eldest Cleopatra died, it is probable that she was assasinated but not certain. Cleopatras other elder sister (Berenice, who I did mention) WAS killed unnaturally on the orders of her father. My information was actually not wrong, you took it as wrong when in fact it was correct. I would be interested to know where you got your information on Cleopatra VII, could you please share your sources.
Your point about her having a slave girl and a gladiator bodyguard who married in secret. Did you take that from a factual book or perhaps a fictional novel? The idea itself is quite absurd, in fact impossible. Cleopatra could not have had a Gladiator bodyguard as for him to be a gladiator would mean he was not free to guard a Queen, and a Queen of such importance, under the hands of the Romans would have had the most elite soldiers in the world for her bodyguard, not a common slave. Also, it wasn't much of a secret if you managed to tell the whole world about it, are you sure it wasn't taken from a novel?
Please dont quote my information as wrong before looking deeply into the facts, becaus eif you had done you would perhaps have realised that I am no fool and actually know what I am talking about.

May I ask you which Egyptian Scholar she had an affair with. After researching Cleopatra quite a lot over the last three years I haven't seen anything like that about, could you please give me a reference, I would be greatly interested to know the evidence saying she had that love affair.
