I don't understand what people are trying to say about this.

People, mainly in the UFO community, interpret these glyphs as being ancient aircraft. The egyptologists' responses to the author's questions explain that this is nothing more than a series of glyphs carved, filled in , and recarved over different reigns of Pharoahs.

That's what I'd believe.

If the Egyptians were aliens then surely their culture would have been more heavily based around helicopters and spacecraft. The whole idea is just preposterous. If they had the technology to build helicopters then surely they would have featured in places other than the upper corner of a doorway at Abydos! It is clearly pamplisest.
In the non-edited photo you can see the w bird and the t loaf overlapping, as well as the double akhet signs (whatever they are) and the number nine. and it is clear that the same has happened where this 'helicopter' is.

Useless piece of trivia about the word helicopter:

It comes from the ancient greek helico (i go around) and pter (wing). However most people misinterpret the word as being a compound of the more familiar parts heli and copter. This has resulted in the production of hundreds of nonsensical words such as helipad and heliport. I find that mildly amusing.

Well, my coment on the picture is that... it's fake. I'm sorry, but stone isn't that shiny unless it's wet. If it's a joke, it's a bad one... maybe I'm just sleepy (2:00am, and I need to wake up at 6:00am to get ready for work).

However, a month or two ago... or three, maybe four. ... I was watching something on PBS or the Discovery Channel. Some Californian scientist was bored and saw a cartouche.. or just a picture of some hieroglyphs. Well, I'm sure you all know that quite often, there is a bird with great big wings stretching out across a section of text. The meaning of the bird was supposedly a "mystery".

The scientist thought that this meant that the ancient Egyptians actually used wind to accomplish great feats of engineering (e.g. lifting great blocks of stone to create pyramids, or erecting obelisks). The idea was that the Egyptians made gigantic kites and used them as long as large pullies to lift the great stones into place.

It was actually quite amazing. The scientist (along with a team of students) had created a mock 100 ton obelisk, and after only one failed attempt, got it to stand up!

...I don't know if it has quite everything to do with Egyptians and aircraft, but it has something to do with it, and I just thought that was an awesome show!

Edit >> I misspelled scientist; couldn't let it go!

They probably aren't fake- the inscriptions really do show what appear to be aircraft and flying craft. But this is just a coincidence, and can be explained in a rational manner. Several glyphs have just been carved over one another, and the plaster has fallen out, showing several hieroglyphs superimposed on one another. They just happen to look a bit like strange flying contraptions.

one of our experts in hieroglyph already talked about that sort of "helicopter"....I saw the picture of the original piece of stone where it is incise and I promise it's not so clear as it is there: stones are ruined, almost back and scratched, plus it is high in a wall not so easy to take pictures, so it's technically obvious that this picture has been "redisigned"...I'll try to post here a picture of a wall in Tantiris temple so that you can see that it's not possible to ONLY ONE CORNER so clean and clear...

uhm....I have some p roblems with my scanner...I'll try again later...

I have seen a picture of the actual location of this inscription maatkara and I believe it is about 12 ft (4 m) above the ground in the far right corner of a support of a door way(?) The pictures that I have seen do not show the 'detail' that the photo in the original link that I posted has. It has clearly been modified.

I'm sorry about digging this one out of the dust bin, but I just couldn't resist. I'm the new guy here at KingTutOne and I guess I'm playing catchup here. I completely agree with PsyPharaoh and others here that this is clearly a fake. I'm a professional graphic designer and believe me, with the design software we designers use every day, this stuff is fiarly easy to manufacture. Mind you, it's done quite well, but I agree with PsyPharaoh in what gives it away. All you need is a photo of some old Egyptian tomb and Photoshop, and you too can redifine history! :D

There's more to it than that. I'm not an expert in reading hieroglyphs but have been studying the language for several years, and it has become a passion of mine. It has also helped me to realize just how ignorant such charlatans are about the most basic premises of the hieroglyphic language. They clearly do not understand how readily they give themselves away with this nonsense...or maybe they're just out for a laugh to see how many people they can get to buy into their game. Who knows?

As a postscript, I got a good laugh out of the chart near the top of the page. I especially like the figure in the cartouches that looks like a mix of a w3s sceptor and a weiner dog. But then there's the little note about the r' glyph that says "Ra (sun god) a determinative used since the IX dynasty." The person who slapped this website together did not evidently conduct research beyond watching Tutenstein or he would have realized he was about 500 years off.

I'm sorry. That was unkind to Tutenstein...it's based on a lot more history than this website.

Wow, you agreed with me? Er... I was PsyPharaoh.. there was something wrong with my password, or something, so rather than deal with it, I just created the Unas profile :P

Cool, I've been accepted!
