I'm sorry i've had to tell a lot of people this. Meritamun might have been Nefertari and Ramses II eldest 'suriving' daughter but she wasn't Nefertari's first daughter by Ramses. He had two other daughers by Nefertari called Baketmut and Nefertari II. Read 'Ramses' by Joyce Tyldesly. Excellent book or take a look at the Abu Simbel temple. Two of the princesses by the feet of Ramses are Baketmut and Nefertari II.
It is presumed they died young otherwise it would have been one of them to become Great Royal Wife b4 Meritamun.

Sorry that was me Kiya writing the 'guest' posts about. Sometimes the site doesn't log me in properly. I've have always used the most common way of spelling her name which was 'Meritamun'.

Oh yes and there are more. In fact if you do a bit of research you will find that she is not the only one. Check oout how many ways there are of spelling Amenhotep III's Great Royal Wife Tiy or even Ramses II.

Even the name Amunhotep is written several different ways. I can think of four... Amunhotpe, Amunhotep, Amenhotep, and Amenophis (Greek spelling). I personally prefer to use Amunhotep.
