The issue of the coregency is a very very contentious one and there is no proof. Some believe in a long 10-12 year co-regency others believe in a shorter, 5 year, co-regency.

It's also relevant to the issue of who was Tut's father. We know of an insrciption where he describes Amenhptep III as his father though this may have been an attempt to distance himself from his heretic father. If it wasn't and Amenhoteop was his father with Tut born in the last year of Amenhotep's reign then there would had to have been a co-regency of at least 11 years, if we accord a sole reign of 3 years to Smenkhare, or more likely, 9 years if Smenkhare was in a co-regency with Akhenaten.

Yes judging by the age of the skeleton postulated to be his, if Smenkhare was Akhenaten's son, he would have been born before he married Nefertiti. But Nefertiti is Great Royal Wife. If some other woman had given him a son isn't it more likely that she would have been Great Royal Wife.

One possiblitiy is that he was the son of Sitamun. We know Amenhotep III married wo of his daughters in the last years of his reign. Maybe a son was the result.

On Ankhesenamun, well what do you want to know. To cut a long story short she was originally called Ankhesenpaten to honour her father's god but changed it when she and Tut returned to Theses and restored the old gods. She was the third daughter of Akhenaten and Nefertiti after Meritaten and Mekitaten. She was older than Tut when they married. She was about 12 and he was about 9. After tuts death she wrote an impassioned letter to the Hittite king begging him to send her a son that she could marry and make pharaoh and then wouldn't have to marry a 'servant'. The Hittite king was suspicious so when a son did finally set out, a Prince Zananza, he was murdered before he reach her.

We know she married tut's successor Ay who was probably the 'servant' reffered to above and she disapears soon after. Either Ay killed her like he probably killed Tut or maybe she comitted soucide, unable to face marriage to a man who may have killed her husband and may even have been her Grandfather. Ay was Nefertiti's father.

If you look around at the other messages on this message board there's been a lot of postings about King Tutankhamen. I'd try looking there.

Does everyone know that picture, that we assume to be Smenkhare and Meritaten. It has been assumed to be them because they don't resemble known depictions of Tut or Ankhesenamun but what I find interesting is the stick Smenkhare is leaning on. Weren't there about 100 walking sticks found in Tut's tomb?

Yeah, I think so. I think that scientists now believe that Tutankhamen may have had a back problem, but I don't remember what it's called. It starts with an "S," I believe. I always have thought that the picture was of Smenkhkare and Meritaten, but now that you brought that point out, it does make sense that it would be Tutankhamen and Ankhsenamun.

That body they found in tomb 55 is pressumed to be Smenkhare but I don't think they found any strong evidence of abnormalities in it. As regards Tut we now know that he would have been quite disabled, with a problems in the neck area of his vertebrae. Something about the bones being fused so when he needed to turn his head he had to turn his whole body. I think the thing your on about is 'Schlerosis' or something like that. Apparently the two feutuses in his tomb had it aswell.

If Smenkhare's body didn't show any obvious signs of abnormality, then why show him leaning on a stick, an obvious sign of weakness. But it looks nothing like Tut, it seems bigger in fact.

Heh another question, my user name is Kiya and it is supposedly an egyptian name but i have never seen any translation as to what it means. Anyone know?
