Post subject:  Greeting Fellow Egyptophiles

I'm glad to share this forum with all of you. Not only have I filled my library with books about this wondrous civilization, but I have been carving heiroglyphs in boards, which I will attach to future messages. Though he allegedly persecuted the Israelites, my favorite pharoah is Ramses II, the Great. Unfortunately, I spelled his name wrong when I entered my user name. It should be Ramses (no a), but I notice that its also spelle Ramesses too. From the twilight beginnings of civilization in the delta until the last pharoah (Cleopatra) died, there is an amazing continuity in Egyptian history even greater than the thread between the Shang and Ming dynasties in China. I look forward to sharing my own insights with members of the forum.

---- Ramases (or Ramses)

Hi there Ramases, welcome to the forum! Don't worry about spelling your name either "Ramases" or "Ramses", the spelling would be the same in hieroglyphs, and it can be pronounced either way.

Which era of Ancient Egypt interests you the most? I'm particularly fascinated by the Amarna period and the time of King Tut - at first the religious revolution and then the counter revolution, wish a lot more would be known about these times!
