Hi, brand new and happy to be here! I have long been fascinated by history (the older the better, of course!). Archaeology is a passion of mine (not a profession alas) and I especially love the culture and history of ancient Egypt. I've just been reading about (you guessed it!) King Tut and his poor wife who went missing under, shall we say, "suspicious circumstances", and while googling Ankhesenamun I found your site. And so--here I am! Happy to meet everyone!

Yes, I have to agree it is one interesting time period in Egypt. So many odd things happened during the Amarna Period. It was not just Ankhesenamun but others who “mysteriously” died or just disappeared (Akhenaten, Smenkhkare, Nefertiti, and Tutankhamun). Though it is believed tut died through malaria I still believe other factors were at play—thus the reason poor Ankhesenamun disappeared.

What is the fatality rate of Falciparum Malaria? One of my relative has been suffering from this type of malaria! I just wanted to know how fatal it is. I know it is the most dangerous type but I haven't been able to figure out if it can cause death too?

I belive Tut had one of the varients that can kill you quickly.
