The All Egyptian Theory

http://www.atlantisquest.com/Manetho.html
From an Egyptian perspective:

Ptah is Hephaistos
Ra is Helius
Shu is Altas
Geb is Cronus
Osiris is Dionysus or Heracles
Seth is Typhon or Poseidon...
Horus Over the Horizon - Zeus
Thoth - Mnemosyne
Neith is Athena
http://www.geocities.com/Athens/Forum/2 ... ion-4a.htm

Onuris(SHU) is clearly an Egyptian Atlas but was identified with Ares, the Greek war-god, because, like Inanna(k), he had acquired warlike characteristics which, most likely, originally belonged to Draco (as mentioned above).

Horus Over the Horizon?
He's probably the other choice of Helius or Zeus... let's call him Zeus, because Zeus comes after Cronus.
http://library.thinkquest.org/03oct/01739/demeter.htm

Thoth: god of learning, memory and wisdom Greece
Thoth - Mnemosyne

Pillars of Osiris (in Busiris?) become Pillars of Heracles. Other Pillars in Egypt are the Moses pillars on the Red Sea.

Go with the Red Sea - as the Atlantic Sea, beyond which lies the True Ocean. (Herodotus says "The Red Sea" and the "Atlantic Sea" are equivalent.)

In this scenario... all of the gods mentioned in Timaeus / Critias refer to the Egyptian Gods.

Maybe that "Shrine of Points" in Calcidius' Timaeus is "Temple of Ptah?"

I'm going to have to study that carefully.

blitz latin:
"eight thousands to the years after, as is held with the sacrifices of the shrines with the points. "

other program:
"eight thousands to the years after, that he/she/it is secured of the sacred shrines to the points."

Seems to be talking about animal sacrifices:
http://www.touregypt.net/featurestories/suntemples.htm
"The causeway was divided into three lanes by low, thin mudbrick walls. The center lane was rather broad, while the two outside lanes were narrow. Curiously, the causeway was offset from the valley temple and both seem to have been oriented towards Heliopolis. This also relates to the 5th dynasty pyramids at Abusir, several of which together formed a line pointing to Heliopolis, as do the pyramid's at Giza. Ronald Wells believes that the temple may have also been aligned with certain stars that rose from the horizon around 2400 BC. If true, this might also mean that Userkaf's valley temple acted as an astronomical clock for the sacrifices which were made at dawn. "

"sacred shrines to the points." should read "Sacred Temple of Literature"... maybe "hall of records".

Maybe this egyptian timeline isn't so dopey, as I thought:

http://ca.encarta.msn.com/encyclopedia_ ... Egypt.html

"Perhaps representing one of the first attempts at making a calendar are the remnants of stone circles from around 8000 bc in the southwestern corner of modern Egypt."

Maybe somebody can find a "Good" link for the "Temple of Ptah"

http://www.nok-benin.co.uk/history_america2.htm
"Outside the modern village of Mitrahine lie a few traces of the once vast Temple of Ptah (8000 BCE), built to honour the primary deity of Memphis."

Anybody have any information on the "Shrine of Points" or "Temple of Ptah" or "Sun-temples"?
